Neil spoke of the song's meaning in the album's commentary track: “I don’t know what this song’s about. It’s about things that are usually one color not being that one color, but I don’t know why they’re not that one color.”

Trivia

• This song was one of the last ones to be completed, with Neil saying in the commentary that he recorded the lyrics "like, two days ago." It is one of three songs to be included on the final album but not the tracklist from the album's announcement on LiveJournal, with the others being The Ceiling and Eventuality.
