The song is a parody of "Wig in a Box" from the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, released for International Talk Like a Pirate Day.[1]

- The coughs in this song were real, brought on by the prolonged raspy pirate impression
- At some point in 2004, this recording was allegedly played at a pirate-themed fan performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in California.
- "Miss Delahaye 1663" is in reference to Jacquotte Delahaye, one of history's most famous pirate women.
- The 2023 re-release of Damn Skippy erroneously includes "You might also like/Scatterbrained/Lemon Demon" in the printed lyrics.[3] This is likely due to them being copied from Genius, a lyrics website which recommends other songs to the right of where lyrics are shown.
