This song was released as a single for the Funny Music Project on November 13, 2016 with the description "Summary of this year. One of the many BONUS TRACKS you get when you purchase a copy of Spirit Phone!" Neil likely described it as a "summary" of 2016 because of the nature of the song, being about angry people doing crazy things, with a tinge of strong nationalism.
On the commentary track for Spirit Phone, Neil says this about the song:
"Angry People is this intense techno song about how, I guess, hate sex leads to evil babies? And everyone’s angry and trying to lead normal lives without ever not being angry and they turn into wolves and tigers and stuff."
