Cover Art Variations

During the production of Spirit Phone, the cover art went through many renditions until Neil and Ming finally settled on the final version. Seen below are 5 of the different iterations it went through.

The first iteration of the cover
The second iteration of the cover, much closer to the layout of the final version
The third iteration of the cover, a redrawn version of the previous iteration
The fourth iteration of the cover, much closer to the final version with a different coloring

Trivia

  • As part of an April Fools joke, a limited edition 8-track tape was made available during the first week of April in 2019. Continuing the tradition, a limited edition "No Moon No Stars LP" was also released on April 1, 2021. It was all black, unlike Needlejuice's typical colored vinyl, released in a limited run of 100.
  • The tracklist went though many iterations during development. Some tracks considered for Spirit Phone were later released as singles and eventually compiled into the Nature Tapes EP in 2014 (namely Everybody Loves Raymond).
